Meet Alofa Ah Chee, Samoa

Alofa Ah Chee, SPBD client from Salelologa, Savai’i, is a proud member of Fataloa 3 Salelologa Centre. She is married and a devoted mother of three children. Her journey with South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) is a powerful example of how determination, discipline, and opportunity can transform a family’s future.
Alofa joined SPBD Microfinance (Samoa) Ltd in May 2018. She used her first loan to strengthen her small baking business, which she started from home. With a clear goal in mind, Alofa worked hard to grow her business, using each subsequent loan wisely to expand her baking supplies, improve production, and increase her income.
Today, Alofa bakes a wide range of products including cakes, pies, and other homemade treats, which she sells directly from her home. She has dedicated a part of her house as a business space where customers can visit and purchase her baked goods. Over the years, her reputation has grown across Savai’i, and she now also provides catering services for many community events such as family fa’alavelave, church functions, and other gatherings.
Alofa shares that SPBD has played a major role in helping her build stability for her family. The income from her business has helped her to not only grow her enterprise, but also to support the education of her children. Through her hard work and the assistance of SPBD loans, Alofa was able to pay for the school fees of her three children. Today, all of her children have graduated, moved overseas, and secured good jobs — a proud achievement for any mother.
“My business would not be successful without SPBD help,” said Alofa.
Today, Alofa has taken a total of 12 SPBD loans. Her progress reflects strong financial responsibility and commitment. She is known within her centre as a disciplined member who leads by example.
In recognition of her leadership, Alofa serves as the Centre Chief for Fataloa 3 Salelologa Centre. She plays an important role in encouraging and motivating other members to stay committed to their businesses, repay on time, and work together.
Alofa’s story is a true reflection of SPBD’s mission — supporting families through financial services and empowering hardworking clients to create better futures for themselves and their communities.
